Poised alternatives (2026): Poised shuts down on 8 October

16 September 2026

Poised, the live in-call communication coach, shuts down on 8 October 2026. If you used it for prompts during the call, no established replacement exists. If you used the post-call summary, which most people did, the closest alternatives are Vocanti for coaching across your real meetings, Yoodli or Orai for rehearsal, and a meeting assistant for talk-time statistics.

Poised is closing on 8 October 2026. Its homepage says so in one line and its help pages say nothing more. This page is written by a competitor, and it is also the only place that separates the two things Poised did, because they need different replacements.

Nobody is going to replace the live overlay this month. Almost everybody can replace the part they actually used.

What Poised did, and which half you used

Poised ran as an overlay inside Zoom, Google Meet and Teams. While you talked it flashed prompts: slow down, fewer filler words, you are taking up the room. After the call it wrote a summary on clarity, pacing, energy and filler words, and over weeks it drew a trend.

Ask yourself which of those you looked at. In their own reviews, most users say the post-call summary was the part they used, and the live prompts were the part they noticed and could not act on before the sentence was over. That matches how attention works. Reading a nudge and speaking a sentence compete for the same resource.

If you are in the small group who genuinely changed course mid-sentence because of a prompt, the honest news is below. If you are in the larger group, the move is straightforward.

What is going away

  • The live overlay, on 8 October.
  • The post-call summaries and the trend charts, with the account.
  • The line Poised added to the description of every Google Meet you organised, which some users will not miss.
  • Your history. Download what you want before the date.

The alternatives, named

Tool Shape Best when
Vocanti Reads your real meetings afterwards, works one habit at a time, checks the next meeting You used the summaries and want them to add up to something
Yoodli Rehearsal scoring and AI roleplay You want to practise a set-piece before it happens
Orai Mobile rehearsal with short daily drills You want practice on your phone
Speeko Daily vocal exercises The issue is voice and delivery rather than what you said
Vocal Image Voice, tone and accent training Accent work, which none of the others do
A meeting assistant with speaker statistics Records and summarises the call, shows talk time You only wanted the talk-time number
Sales roleplay tools Simulated buyer, scored on deal progress You are a rep and the measure is the deal
A human coach Judgement, strategy, the hard conversation The problem is what to say rather than how you said it

Poised charged $19 a month, or $13 a month billed annually. Individual plans for Yoodli, Orai and Vocanti sit in the same band. Prices move, so check them at source.

If you used the live prompts

There is no established live coach for individuals to move to right now. The category has one fewer product, not one more.

Two things are worth knowing before you go looking. First, the reason the live shape is thin is not that nobody tried it; it is that acting on a prompt while speaking is hard, and most people end up reading the prompts afterwards. Second, if a live nudge did work for you, the behaviour it corrected is probably one you can also see in a transcript after the fact, and fix by habit rather than by alarm. That is a slower loop and a more durable one.

If you used the post-call summary

This is where most Poised users are, and it is the case Vocanti was built for.

The summary told you the meeting’s pacing, filler count and energy. What it did not do was point at the line. Vocanti records the real conversation, separates the speakers, and marks the specific words that cost you: the eleven words you hedged before committing to a date, the answer that arrived after two minutes of context, the position you dropped when pushed. It then prescribes one habit, and when you record the next meeting it tells you whether that habit moved.

That is a different promise from a weekly trend chart. A chart tells you a number went down. The next recording tells you whether the thing your manager named has changed.

If you want prompts while you speak, Vocanti is not that. It reads the meeting afterwards, with the other people in it, because half of what it scores is how you handled them.

Moving over before 8 October

  1. Save your Poised history. Trend charts are useful evidence if a review is coming.
  2. Check the refund policy if you paid annually.
  3. Decide which half you used. Live prompts: read the section above and lower your expectations. Summaries: pick a post-call tool.
  4. Record your next real meeting in whichever tool you pick, so the history does not start from zero.
  5. Tell the people in your meetings what you are doing, and drop it for that call if someone objects.

Questions

Why is Poised shutting down?
No reason has been published. Deepgram, the speech-recognition company, acquired Poised in June 2024, and the team's recent work went into Shortcut, a dictation tool. The homepage notice is one sentence with the date and a thank-you. Poised did not stop working, and people did not stop wanting what it did.
What should I do before 8 October?
Save anything you want to keep from your account, particularly the trend charts if you were using them to show progress to a manager. If you are on an annual plan, read their refund policy and ask about the unused months. Then decide which half of Poised you actually used, because that decides what replaces it.
Is there another live in-call coach?
Not an established one for individuals. Some meeting assistants show talk time during a call, and a few sales tools prompt reps live. For most people the live prompts were the part they read after the meeting anyway, which is why the post-call tools are the realistic move.
Does Vocanti put anything in the meeting?
No. It records from your microphone or your browser tab, so there is no bot in the invite, no overlay and no text added to calendar descriptions. Only you are scored, and everyone else's words are deleted within a week.
